An Anabasis and
other travels in wargaming

That’s the first miniature I ever painted. It is a Blood Angel Space Marine. 

I received my first miniatures in March 1998. Or actually my younger brother got a Warhammer Paint Set for his birthday. It included some plastic Bretonnian Archers to practice on. These were accompanied by a small booklet about the hobby with stunning pictures of miniatures, battlefields with knights, monsters and Space Marines. 

My brother wasn’t interested. I was instantly hooked and have been ever since. 

I started this site simply because I needed another creative outlet. When reading about and researching for different projects, battles and periods I get ideas for articles, scenarios, army lists, how-to’s and so on. Rather than just let notes and ideas pile up in note books I thought I would present it in this format. Hopefully someone finds it interesting and worthwhile reading.

And the name - Anabasis - seemed fitting as one of my main interests is classical Greek and Rome. And this hobby has been somewhat of an adventure - and continues to be. No other likeness to Xenophon or Alexander the Great is intended.
